What We’re About

Clinical trials have a profound impact on the health of Canadians and lead to greater understanding of diseases and new, and often life-saving, treatments for a range of disorders. They enable the study of new therapeutics and are the most effective way for scientists to assess efficacy and safety of novel treatments before they are approved for public use. Clinical trials allow patients access to innovative treatments that would otherwise be inaccessible. Studies have also shown that patients treated in institutions that are actively involved in research have better outcomes.[i],[ii] BCCRIN is working to strengthen the existing clinical research community in BC by studying the success of other research networks and applying new ways to support the community. BCCRIN is engaging the research community, research participants and their families and the pharmaceutical industry. We are coordinating and building resources, and incorporating new science and methods into clinical research, such as personalized medicine.
